Lead Designer Nemi Shares Vision for Authentic Pre-Big Bang Progression
Published January 29, 2026
A deep dive into how MapleStory Classic World will handle leveling curves and party quest rewards to ensure a truly nostalgic experience.
Lead designer Nemi has provided new insights into the mechanical philosophy behind Classic World. The core mission is to preserve the "meaningful struggle" that defined the early years of MapleStory, where every level gained and every piece of equipment found felt like a true achievement.
The Leveling Curve
Unlike the rapid progression of modern servers, Classic World will return to the original XP tables. Nemi emphasized that the journey is the destination, and the social bonds formed during long training sessions are the heartbeat of the game.
Revitalized Party Quests
Party Quests (PQs) are being meticulously tuned to ensure they remain the optimal way to level up and socialize. From Kerning City to Ludibrium, the rewards and challenges are being balanced to encourage teamwork over solo play.
"We want players to remember why they fell in love with MapleStory," Nemi stated. "It wasn't just about the numbers; it was about the people you played with."
